Dar\u00fcber hinaus hat sich gezeigt, dass die Meditationspraxis nicht nur h\u00f6here kognitive Funktionen f\u00f6rdert, sondern auch die Gehirnaktivit\u00e4t ver\u00e4ndert. Dennoch ist wenig \u00fcber m\u00f6gliche Zusammenh\u00e4nge zur Gehirnstruktur bekannt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anhand hochaufl\u00f6sender MRT-Daten von 44 Probanden haben wir versucht, die zugrundeliegenden anatomischen Korrelate langfristiger Meditation mit unterschiedlicher regionaler Spezifit\u00e4t (d. h. global, regional und lokal) zu untersuchen. Zu diesem Zweck wendeten wir die Voxelbasierte Morphometrie in Verbindung mit einem k\u00fcrzlich validierten automatisierten Parzellierungsverfahren an.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wir stellten bei Meditierenden signifikant gr\u00f6\u00dfere Volumina der grauen Substanz im rechten orbitofrontalen Kortex fest. Zus\u00e4tzlich zeigten sich gr\u00f6\u00dfere Volumina im rechten Thalamus und im linken Gyrus temporalis inferior, wenn f\u00fcr das Alter kovariiert und\/oder die angewandten statistischen Schwellenwerte gesenkt wurden). Dar\u00fcber hinaus wiesen Meditierende signifikant gr\u00f6\u00dfere Volumina des rechten Hippocampus auf. Sowohl orbitofrontale als auch hippocampale Regionen werden mit der Emotionsregulation und der Kontrolle von Reaktionen in Verbindung gebracht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daher k\u00f6nnten gr\u00f6\u00dfere Volumina in diesen Regionen die besonderen F\u00e4higkeiten und Gewohnheiten von Meditierenden erkl\u00e4ren, positive Emotionen zu pflegen, emotionale Stabilit\u00e4t zu bewahren und achtsames Verhalten zu praktizieren. Wir schlagen ferner vor, dass diese regionalen Ver\u00e4nderungen der Gehirnstrukturen Teil des zugrundeliegenden neurologischen Korrelats langfristiger Meditation sind \u2013 unabh\u00e4ngig von einem spezifischen Stil und einer bestimmten Praxis.
